His name is synonymous with Chicago drum n bass and one of Americas largest drum n bass music groups the M.I.A. (murda In america) with over 50+ members all over the country. In the early 90's Alfonz got his start djing and putting on small events and after-hours in Chicago. In 1998 he attempted his 1st event called "Higher" featuring a diverse line up of drum n bass and techno in a warehouse on the south side of Chicago and soon after he helped establish "boogie tribe" which would later become one of the biggest edm promoters in the midwest and among the top 5 promotion companies in Chicago. Over the years Alfonz has played well over 25 cities in over 20 states both headlining and along side some of the worlds top electronic music producers and djs. His drive to push drum n bass has taken him to several musical places including a live dnb band called "soljazz", a drum step group "highSociety". Also as a promoter he loves putting on several underground events that are exclusively drum n bass with a touch of dubstep. He's held a residencies at several clubs including smart bar for over 5 years both djing and putting on dnb nights there till 2012 when he began working with Dolphin night club on a monthly basis to present #Play his monthly drum n bass night on the 2nd Wednesdays of every month . He has recently been producing tracks exclusively for Combat records available on several digital outlets and lending his vocal talents to several m.i.a. djs mixtapes. Future plans include a west coast and east coast tour called "the fallen bass tour" and a few releases on several record labels to be announced. So ive been working hard and in the studio periodically working on my ep.  Its coming along and i have some choice bits ready for bass heads out there.  Ive been working on some drum step and some heavy drum n bass + an idea for a liquid tune i am working on a guitarist to feature on the track.

High Society is my latest project, we are working on a ton of drum step tunes and i am developing a stage show to go along with the high energy music, the goal of this project is to expose more people to the higher bpm and drum n bass while at it.  The live show will feature 2 djs playing on 4 turn tables, mostly drum step but also jump up, ragga and general drum n bass vibes.

Wow what a great time in miami this year, big back to back drum n bass shows from wed night till sunday.  I had a great time playing out with some of the industries brightest talent.  Thanks to DJ SS and Machete for the World of Drum n bass gig it was an honor representing the best in the USA along side every one, Respect to the man Hunter from Legion for the spot at the SLI show case and respect to Sour Diesel for the gig at the Konkrete Jungle  in the hood of miami, tings were nice and underground.  It was an awesome time and i cant wait for next year, big bad and heavy for sure!

BREAK, PRODUCTION, WMC FOR ME

Man its been a busy 1st part of the year and I took some time and set it aside for my self.  Ill be working on new music and playing a very minimal amount of shows.  As far as putting together another MIA party goes.. ill have to sit back and look at the pros and cons, most of the cons fall on other promoters in Chicago getting behind our event rather than feeling they need to go against our event.  We have a very small scene in Chicago and the last thing we need is two raves on one night, that just equals 2 OK parties rather than one rager.  I have two tracks being released on the next MIA release, the MURDA EP VOL 2 available on http://www.beatport.com

I'll be in Miami this year playing several shows durring the winter music conference and utlra.  Ill be playing at the WORLD OF DRUM N BASS, KONKRETE JUNGLE VICE CITY and THE SLI night.  Im excited to get out of the Chicago cold and into some Miami freshness.  Ill have some serious beats and the MIA crew will be handing out some promos of our release.  Ill have pics and stories etc when i get back.

A good time over all, the show started off pretty slow but picked up around 1030... i guess the crowd was too thin for evol intent so i got to play an extra 40 mins, Some kids picked up on the dnb vibe but a lot seemed clue less, good thing gigantor hit them up with a mix of dubstep and heavy dnb.  Good show but i cant say i love the venue, the house lights stay lit and security is pretty rough. other than that i had a good time, thanks to marten an react for a good show. BLESS, this friday im playing in elgin ill post the info soon.

I want to thank every one that has supported us for the past 4 + years we were at smart bar, so many great memories and that will be forever one of the best runs we have had at a night club.  Im going to take a break with the club night for a few months while i work out a new spot but we might do some one offs for the 21 and up massive. 

We left smart bar because we felt we were not being treated fairly.  We felt that the music director was not behind us 100% and we noticed for many months that the promotions dept was not supporting our monthly night as much as the other week nights, promotional materials were frequently late and emails would go un-answered for weeks etc. After being there for so many years we just decided as a group it was time to move on.  It was the only choice we could see happening.  bottom line it was just not a good fit. So were moving the night.

The final show was massive, we packed out the club in true style i had a fun set playing some very jungly beats and on to some smoother dnb, phantom 45 stepped in the booth and laid down some of his standards and some new bits that ripped up the floor, danny the wildchild did his thing and just tore down the house and j crossed closed out the night with a solid selection of an all killer set.

Chicago we love you and hope to keep your continued support as we proceed to trail blaze new site for drum n bass to prosper - WE BRING THE BASS, YOU BRING THE VIBE!!!!
